A prosecutor says he'll immediately release transcripts and audio recordings of a grand jury investigation into the death of Michael Brown if the panel doesn't indict the suburban St. Louis police officer who shot him. Spokesman Ed Magee on Wednesday said St. Louis County prosecutor Bob McCulloch has ordered that the proceedings be transcribed and audio-recorded, an unusual step for grand juries in Missouri.

A St. Louis County man is facing second-degree murder charges for allegedly shaking his 3-month-old daughter to death. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 30-year-old Jonathan Lawton of Fenton was originally charged on Monday with felony child abuse.

St. Louis County police say officers fatally shot a man armed with a rifle in Jennings after he opened fire on them. Police spokesman Brian Schellman told KSDK-TV the officers were responding Wednesday night to a report of gunshots.
